Will the DNC eat it's young?

i've argued for a while with my friends that even a hillary win in the general election would be the worst thing that could happen to the democratic party for pretty much the reasons you cite. a lot of liberals like myself are sick to death of what hillary represents: that annoying dlc centrist crap that we overdosed on during the clinton presidency. and it hasn't worked! the democrats have steadily lost influence in america under the sway of this thinking and only recently retook congress because of the astonishing ineptitude of the bush administration. what they seem to have decided is that they can compete with the republicans for an ever shrinking block of middle-aged white voters. it's almost a recipe for the disengagement of younger people and real liberals. on the positive side, maybe if it plays out this way we'll see a movement towards a third party that respects progressive values, as i'm starting to think the dems are sort of hopeless.
